Richard L. Stivers, 66, of Maumee, OH passed away peacefully with his family by his side on May 22, 2021. Richard was born November 14, 1954 in Toledo, OH. He graduated from Maumee H.S and Penta Career Center. He worked in the parts department at Bob Schmidt Chevrolet for 25+ years, before retiring from Libbey Glass in 2016. Richard loved spending time with his family in Jackson, KY at his family's farmhouse, camping at Sunny's, spending time with his buddies at VFW 3338, but most of all at the dirt track at Oakshade Raceway where he raced his # 7r bomber car for 10 years. He made many friends along the way. He was an avid Nascar fan and always rooted for Dale Earnhardt Sr. When he wasn't at one of his daughters sporting events, you could find him in the garage working on cars. He was known as the 'neighborhood mechanic" He never turned anyone away and would help in any way he could, no matter what it was. He enjoyed cooking on the grill, pool parties for the kids and sitting on the porch with his neighbors having a 'cold one". Richard is survived by his daughters, Kelly (Keith) Cooper, Lisa Stivers (Le Guy), and Stacy Stivers (Adam Scarberry), nine grandchildren : Andrew, Cody, Logan, Travis, Austin, Avery, Dallas, Hailey and Miranda, sister Melinda (Don) Duncan, brother William Stivers, one niece and one nephew, and many relatives in KY who all loved him very much. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Shirley Stivers, and brother Edward Stivers. The family would like to say thank you to the wonderful staff at St. Lukes Hospital, especially Lindsay in ICU and Stephanie in CVU, and the staff of Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Memorial contributions can be made to your favorite chairty. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
