On the evening of April 27th, 2025 Richard “Rick” Michael Schoenhofer, Jr. passed away unexpectedly at the age of 70.
He was born in Toledo, Ohio to Richard Sr. and Dolores Schoenhofer on February 18th, 1955.
The oldest of six children, Rick grew up in West Toledo before moving to Northwood, Ohio. He graduated from Northwood High School in 1974. After graduating, Rick held various positions until beginning his career as a professional semi driver in 1990.
Around this time, he settled in Perrysburg, Ohio and started a family; having two sons and later, a daughter, in 2001. Rick loved supporting his children by attending their sports and performance events. He also enjoyed taking them on vacations to the Upper Peninsula, where they spent time fishing and making memories together in nature. It was his favorite place to be. Later in life, his love of nature inspired a passion for photography. Rick traveled around in search of the best scenery Ohio and Michigan has to offer; having his pictures recognized by a local news channel. Rick was also a big fan of Detroit sports and Notre Dame Football.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents Richard Sr. and Dolores.
He is survived by his five sisters, Linda (Schoenhofer) Templeton, Debra (Schoenhofer) Durica, Mary Ellen Schoenhofer, Laura Schoenhofer, and Lisa Schoenhofer; his three children, Phillip Schoenhofer, James (Erika) Schoenhofer and Aubrey (Payton) Hyder; and granddaughters, Madilyn, Carly, and Taylor.
He will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers for the family, consider donating to Friends of the Wood County Parks.
