Richard E. Moris, Sr., 86, of Pemberville, Ohio passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 22, 2025, in the log cabin he built along the Portage River with family at his side.
Richard was born on July 27, 1939, to Reverand Edward and Phyllis (Smith) Morris at their home in Toledo, Ohio. He married Cynthia (Nagel) on October 8, 2005, in Custar, Ohio and they were blessed to share the last 20 years together.
Dick, as he was known by many, was a graduate of Lake High School, and maintained a life-long friendship with his classmates and fellow players from the baseball team. He was a hard worker throughout his life, beginning as a young boy pumping gas at his father’s service station. He went on to hold a variety of jobs over the years from working horses at the racetrack to construction and truck driving, ultimately retiring from ODOT after 25 years of service as a signal electrician.
He enjoyed playing baseball, “messing with his horses”, league bowling with his good friend and neighbor, Roger Pierstorff, and watching sports with his “girl”, niece/caregiver, Tammy.
Along with his wife, Dick is survived by his children, Richard (Cassandra) of New Bavaria, Robin (Kurt) Kistner of Grand Rapids, and Rodney (Lesley) of Whitehouse; 7 grandchildren, Michael, Richard, Russell, Jacob, Amanda, Rachel, and Bob; as well as 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Edward, Glen, George, Catherine Hiser, Judy Lee and Joanne Holeman.
Dick never met a stranger and will be fondly remembered for his tall tales and outrageous quotes.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 3:00 pm at the Custar United Methodist Church, 9074 Custar Road, Custar, Ohio.
The family suggests any memorial contributions be made to Bridge Hospice or the Custar UM Vacation Bible School program.
