Richard D. “Richie” Kessler, 64 of Swanton, Ohio formerly Maumee, Ohio passed away Friday August 28, 2020 peacefully in his home surrounded by his wife and loving family. Richie was born in Middletown, Ohio February 10, 1956 to the late Glenn Kessler and Mary Eileen (Bolton) Cross. Richie grew up with his two brothers in Maumee, Ohio where he graduated from Maumee Highschool in 1974. After Richie’s graduation his lifes journey took him all over the country where he was a resident of Colorado, Florida, California and Maryland. Richie was a member of Local 7 International Painters Union until his retirement. Richie met his loving wife, Marcie in 2005, they married in 2010 where they made a life together at their current residence. He enjoyed boating, horseback riding and traveling with his wife, Marcie. Although they did not travel as much as they would have liked, the memories Richie and Marcie made during their last trip together to Maine will forever be in her heart. Richie was close with his brothers and cherished their get-togethers dearly. Richie enjoyed spending his time with family and friends. Richie loved his family and was especially proud of being a “papa” to his seven grandchildren. Richie is survived by his wife, Marcie, daughters: Lyndsi (James) Wilhelm of North Baltimore, Jamie (Mitch) Wagner of Fort Wayne and Tiffany Malone of Swanton; grandchildren: Addison, Phoebe and Daphne Wilhelm of North Baltimore; Jase and Jaxon Wagner of Fort Wayne; Makayla and Roman Malone of Swanton; brother; Todd (Sally) Kessler of Cornucopia, WI and Gary (Shelly) Kessler of Long Beach California; nephews: Riggs Kessler of Cornucopia, Wisconsin and Brian Kessler of Whitefish, Montana; nieces: Addy Kessler (Billy Rueck) of Portland, Oregon and Amy (Fran) Portillo-Kessler of Long Beach, California. In honor of Richie’s wishes the family will be having a private celebration of his life at a later date. Contributions in Richie’s name can be made to The American Cancer Society or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
