Richard Lee Hamrick Sr., age 91, had a life well lived and full of love for his family. He was born March 20, 1930 to John and Margaret Hamrick, both deceased. Richard passed away December 12th, at Aspen Grove where he lived the last three years. He and Mary were 1948 graduates of Waite High School. He married Mary (Ross) October 1, 1949. They were high school sweethearts. They were married 69 years. Mary passed away November 1, 2018. Richard enjoyed 40 years of retirement from the Toledo Police Department, retiring in 1982 as a Captain on the force. After retirement, Richard and Mary built a log home in the U.P. and enjoyed many happy summers there with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They loved company and all were welcome. For many years, they wintered in Seabring, Florida, while keeping their home in Point Place. Richard was a lifelong resident of the Point. He loved to hunt and as his four sons grew, he would take them along. Preceded in death are sons, Scott and Tim; granddaughter, Jessica Louy; and brother, Robert. Richard is survived by Richard Jr. (Darla), Thomas (Joyce), ten grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by lifelong friend of 86 years, Lee Kramer (Rita), meeting when they were just 5 years old. A special thank you to Aspen Grove in Lambertville, MI and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the compassionate care he received. Words can’t express our appreciation. Services will be private.
