Richard S Rick Burford

Richard (Rick) S. Burford, age 51, took his final breath at 12:30 AM on Friday, June 17, 2011, at Flower Hospital, after battling a long illness. He was surrounded by his loving family. His struggle is now over and he is at peace. He went to heaven to be with his parents, Dick and Peggy Burford, who he deeply missed. He arrived just in time for an early round of golf.Rick graduated from Whitmer High School and worked at Libbey Glass for 20 years, retiring in 2001. He enjoyed playing golf, where he celebrated average rounds in the 70s and two holes-in-one. He was also an avid bowler who bowled two 300 games. He loved fishing on Lake Erie on his boat, and spending time with his family. He was also a great skier, and billiards player.Ricks greatest accomplishment in life was his son Ryan who he was very proud of and loved very much.Rick is survived by his wife; Judy Cassidy-Burford, son; Ryan, sister; Amy Chauvette, nieces and nephews; Joe and Jenna Jennewine, JT Chauvette, Sean Cassidy, Brianne Cassidy, Mickey Cassidy, and Erin Cassidy, Aunt and Uncle; Chuck and Rita Byers, and in-laws; Jim and Janet Cassidy, Pat and Laurie Cassidy, and Kevin and Cindy Cassidy.The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses at flower hospital who were responsible for the care and support of Rick during this difficult but precious time.In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in memory of Rick to Hospice of NW Ohio or Racing for Recovery.Family and friends are invited to join a celebration of Ricks life at Olander Park in the Nederhouser Community Hall on Monday, June 27, from 12 to 3pm.
