Rheba “Bebe” (Holladay) Falgout, born on September 28, 1928, in Valdosta, Georgia, passed away on May 12, 2025, at the age of 96.
Bebe graduated as an RN from Charity Hospital School of Nursing in New Orleans, Louisiana. While in nursing school, she met and eventually married Mel Falgout on July 27, 1951. They resided in the New Orleans area until 1971, when they moved to Lafayette, Louisiana. After Mel’s death in 2016, Bebe moved to Napoleon, Ohio.
Bebe was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved gardening, watching and feeding “her” birds, and fishing. She loved music—listening to it, singing it, and playing the piano.
She loved taking care of her family and friends, especially preparing meals for them. She was always thinking of others. Early on, she modeled and taught modeling, while also pursuing her nursing career and raising a family. She sang with the Chorale Acadienne and the St. Pius X Church choir in Lafayette, Louisiana, for many years.
She was a peacemaker and a true caregiver—charming and elegant, always a true Southern lady.
She stood with dignity, strength, and courage through the many adversities she faced in life. She will be dearly missed!
Bebe was the youngest of six children. She is survived by her son, David Falgout (Carol); two daughters, Lindy Fisher (Richard) and Susette Hunt (Don); nine grandchildren, Jonathan Falgout (Angie), Theresa John (Jackson), Adam Falgout (Anne), Jacob Falgout, Sarah Falgout, Stephanie Falgout, Erinn Quinn (Tom), Kristen Naquin, and Matthew Soileau; and nine great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Mel Falgout; her son, Tim Falgout; her parents, John D. and Jewell DeVane Holladay; her sister, Winona “Noni” Barrie; and four brothers, James Holladay, John D. “Jay” Holladay, Carroll Glenn Holladay, and Joseph S. “Ted” Holladay.
