Rachel Lynette Barnes was born on February 5th, 1972, to the Union of Barbara Ann Barnes and Edward Barnes.
Although Rachel was developmentally delayed from a bout with rheumatic fever as an infant, she went on to graduate from Start High School and worked a lengthy career with Lott Industries. Rachel enjoyed activities and frequent social gatherings amongst her peers.
Rachel was an artist, always working with her hands to create something beautiful for someone who was, as she put it “in her mind”. Right up to her last day, Rachel was focused on making keepsakes for her nieces and nephews.
Rachel was preceded in death by her father, Edward Barnes; mother, Barbara Ann Barnes; and sister, Donna Marie Barnes. She is survived by her sisters, Pamela Carter, Laura (Charles) Fowler, Renita Robinson; nephews, Lawrence Carr, Ray Robinson and Tyler Fowler; nieces, Stacey Carr and Taylor (Michael) Gammo.
Rachel was a gift from God. She came at a time when our family needed healing. She taught us love, kindness and empathy. We graciously ask that you consider Rachel the next time you have the opportunity to be kind, to do so in memory of her.
A Celebration of Rachel’s Life will be announced at a later date.
