Phyllis Newman 91, of Genoa, OH passed away Sunday February 16, 2025. Phyllis was born on November 16, 1933, to Chester and Laura Bodi.
Phyllis was married to her beloved husband Dale from 1954 until 2006. They had 51 years together before she lost him to cancer. One of her other greatest loves was her brother David. Their loving 83-year bond was truly a testament to how wonderful they both were.
For the past two years Phyllis lived at Genoa Retirement Village. While there she thrived under the care of the wonderful staff. One of which was her beautiful granddaughter Jess who was her biggest cheerleader. It was there that she made new friends, spent many hours doing fun activities including BINGO, off campus trips, and getting her hair and nails done. She was always out doing something fun.
Phyllis was a wonderful mother to her son Gregory (Tammy) Newman and her daughter Lynn (Gregory) Sigurdson.
She was an amazing Grandma/Gege to Christina, Josh, Jason, Greg, Jessica, and Mason. Having a unique and loving relationship with each of them.
One of her greatest joys later in life were her great grandchildren. Jack, Bryson, Blake, Ellianna, Michael, Kyrsten, Becca, and Kelsey.
We as her family could not be prouder of the life she led and the person she was. She will be greatly missed.
It was Phyllis’s wish not to have any services, because she was so honored in her life by her family. This includes her brother’s wonderful sons and their lovely wives and her sister-in-law Holly and her beautiful daughters.
If you wish to make a memorial contribution, we ask that you choose the activity department of the Genoa Retirement Village 300 Cherry Street Genoa, OH 43430.
