Phyllis Jean (Helvoigt) Lawrence, 75, of Toledo, was led to her eternal home on October 29, 2023, by her parents, grandparents, and brother.
She was born on June 10, 1948, in Jacksonville, South Carolina to the late Robert L. and Artist E. (Dunn) Helvoigt.
Phyllis graduated in 1966, from Perrysburg High School. After graduation, Phyllis married Bruce Miller, moved to California, and stayed for thirty-seven years. There, she worked as an assistant to The Director of Finance in banking for most of her career.
Phyllis then married Doug Lawrence and moved back to Toledo to be closer to family. She worked at her “Happy Place” Kroger, where her co-workers became her huge family. Phyllis loved to hug, and gave them freely. She made the holidays special with her accessories for each occasion. For her 75th birthday celebration, her cashier’s station was decorated with flowers and balloons.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Paul and Pam Miller, three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, sisters, Pam Kreamer, Marsha Fisher, Julie Hays, Shelly DeLong, Cheryl White, and Jody Helvoigt, brothers, Allen Lloyd, Robin Adams, Ted Adams, and Mike Helvoigt, nieces, nephews, and her “hug” Kroger family and customers.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 10, 2024, her 76th Birthday.
Her family would like to thank St. Charles Hospital and Physical Rehab, the doctors at St. Charles, the nurses in ICU at St. Charles, and Hospice of NWO on Detroit Avenue for their care.
