Phyllis A. Allman, age 87 years, of Sylvania, Ohio, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2022, at Sunset Village of Sylvania. She was surrounded by love and family in her final hours.
Phyllis grew up in Lyons, OH and was involved in multiple school activities including glee club, cheerleading, and was a majorette in the marching band. Over the years, she enjoyed running, tennis, spending time at Round Lake, spoiling her dogs and watching Michigan football. She held many jobs in her life, including her retirement job at Rite Aid until she was 85 years old. She loved being around people and made a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Phyllis adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always doing her best to acknowledge birthdays and express pride in their accomplishments. Her love of music also brought her much joy. She enjoyed playing trumpet and her Baldwin piano and continued to play many songs from memory into her final days. She especially loved her trips to see Ragtime Rick and the Chefs of Dixieland and would typically arrive hours before the show to get the best seat in the house.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Brad Allman; son, Rick Poorman; and stepsons, Bill and Mike McNamee and her beloved dog, Sage. She is survived by her sons, Steve (Kelly) McNamee, Gary (Lyne) Poorman, Lindsay Poorman, and Ben (Teresa) Poorman; daughter-in-law, Dori Poorman; sisters, Nancy (Larry) Hutchison and Merila Jean (Paul) Guilford; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude for the amazing care Phyllis received by the staff at Sunset Village.
