Paula Jane Cohen, a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away at the age of 55 on March 21, 2020. She was born on November 27, 1964 to Mary Pat Rough and James Whitehead in Toledo, Ohio. She was a loving mother of three children and best friends with her three grandbabies. Paula, better known as “Spunky”, was a longtime resident of Perrysburg, Ohio and had a 20 plus year career in accounting after graduating Magna Cum Laude from Heidelberg College. She had a zest for life and spread joy and infectious laughter everywhere she went. She loved the colors yellow and orange, baking, country concerts, going to the racetrack, watching game shows, collecting colorful pens and paper clips, and was devoted to helping other people in any capacity she could. Paula was especially active and vibrant in her teen years, playing softball at a high level as a pitcher along with volleyball. She also explored modeling for a bit and was featured in the Toledo Blade. Paula is survived by her mother, Mary Pat Rough; her children Zachary Cohen, Meagan Zerante, and Emily Cohen; her siblings Scott Whitehead, Laura Stoll, and Mary Szczepanski; her grandchildren Aiden, Gavin, and Oliviana, many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, many “adopted” children she grew to love along the way, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father, James William Whitehead; and her grandparents, Robert and Margaret (Peg) Rough. A celebration of life will be held at a later time. Paula will be deeply missed by many people.
