Patty Jo Griffin

September 29, 1947 — March 5, 2020

Patty Jo (Newnham) Griffin, 72, of Holland, Ohio passed away peacefully at home March 5, 2020.  She was born on September 29, 1947 in Toledo, Ohio. Patty grew up in Holland and Sylvania Ohio.  She graduated from Sylvania High School in 1965.  She married Douglas Griffin on November 21, 1969.  Patty spent many years as a homemaker and working various customer service positions in retail.  Many remember her time at So-Fro Fabrics and Service Merchandise.  She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cross stitch and many other crafts.  She had an eye and the patience for detail in all her projects.  Patty was also very talented in the kitchen.  Her potato salad was requested for many family events.  Music was important to Patty.  She enjoyed playing her piano and listening to The Lettermen, Barry Manilow, Patriotic and Christmas music. Patty went back to school and received her bachelor’s degree in 1998 from the University of Toledo. Patty is survived by her husband, Douglas; son, Shawn (Naomi); daughter, Shannon; grandchildren, Emilie, Shaughn, Kodiak, Kenai, and Deagan; great grandson, Finnegan; and life-long friend, Carol Berning.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Lucille Newnham, and brothers, William and Richard Newnham. The family would like to thank Kathy, Glenda, and Maria and of Heartland Hospice for their care. A memorial service is planned for Sunday April 5, 2020, from 1:00-4:00 pm at the Lodge at Strawberry Acres Park in Holland, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Toledo Area Humane Society or the Cherry Street Mission.
