Our beloved brother, Patrick Jace Carpenter, earned his wings and went to join mom, Joyce Carpenter, Amos Cowson, his brothers, Michael and Bruce, at the heavenly party. He will be sadly missed by family and his many friends.
He fought one hellva fight after being hit by a car while crossing the crosswalk, on November 17, 2022, in LA.
Pat Carpenter was born on August 1, 1958, and he passed away on February 10, 2025, at age 66 years old. He was a proud Leo, with Leo traits; natural leader, charming, obstinate, determined, confident, passionate, fearless, loyal, and generous. Every year everyone was invited to his Birthday celebration!
He is survived by his two loving sisters, Wendy LeForge and Ginger Smith (Frank Riddle). He was proud to be Uncle Pat to his many nieces and nephews, Ann Johnson (Lori Carleton), Elizabeth Kobak (Joesph), Phillip Johnson (Melody), Jace Barrett, Rebecca Carpenter, (Jake Martre), Kenny Smith (Jessica), Brian Smith (Christy) and Kelli Carpenter, and deceased, Michael Carpenter Jr. He also has many cousins, the Tippey’s and the Taylor’s. The family appreciates Pam Mapes and Codie Taylor for visiting and caring for him.
Pat was Renaissance man, who lived his life with courage to face challenges and follow his dreams. He was diagnosis with a learning disorder of dyslexia, in college, after years of academic struggle. That did not stop Pat from pursuing a profession that required reading scripts to be successful. Even though many doubt that Pat could do it, he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Toledo University in 1988 and Graduated from Rogers High School in 1977.
He lived in Los Angeles, California, for over forty years, starring in a handful of movies and TV shows. He worked on In Living Color at Fox, and he was the head of the Pages. He loved the art of film making, acting and directing. He was a strong supporter of his friends’ careers, especially his beloved, Amos Cowson, who proceeded him in death. They were partners for over Forty-seven years.
To complement his acting, he became a comedian. It was a natural fit for his sharp wit and sense of humor. His comedy act was based on our fun family and being a gay man.
Next came his home repair business, “Rent-a-man”. He found that customers welcome punctuality, with fair pricing.
He had a passion for plants and growing flowering herbs. His social media was filled with his plants. He participated in both the California AIDS bike ride and Hawaii AIDS bike rides, raising money to fight AIDS. My mom joined the mission, and Pat happily shared her with all the riders, making her “Mom of Ride”.
Pat loved entertaining, we could always count on him to host the traditional Holiday dinners, Super Bowls, and Oscars, for his community. He would cook all mom’s recipes and invite guests to bring their favorite dish. He would send mom the movies and the ballots for the Oscars so she could participate.
Pat was always bringing home strays, both humans and animals. His love of animals was lifelong, especially dogs; Bandit, Shadow and The Little Girl, were his last pets.
His family appreciates his friends that visited and cared for him; Doug Burzynski, Thomas “Bobby” Petrello, Greg and Blanca Morales while Pat was in California. Family friends, Tim Keogh, Russ and Irene, who also visited in Fremont.
A big Thank You goes to Countryside Manor nursing home, in Fremont, Ohio. They made all the difference; they treated Pat as if he was family. Caring for Pat while caring about Pat. They gave us peace of mind when we could not be there.
Pat’s Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 1:30 pm at Walbridge Park Shelter 2801 Broadway St., Toledo, Ohio 43609
