Patricia A Vaughan, 90, passed away December 7, 2023. Born in Toledo, Patti was the fourth daughter born to Fred and Blanche (Edmund) Anspach. Patti attended Garfield grade school and enjoyed reunion lunches with many classmates for decades. She graduated from Clay High School. Patti studied nursing at Toledo Hospital School of Nursing and lived at Croxton House, graduating in 1954. She developed many friendships that remain intact today.
Patti married Melvin Scott in 1954. After the birth of 3 daughters, Mel was killed in a car accident in 1964. Patti married Gale Vaughan in 1971. After moving to Sylvania, Gale adopted the girls and the couple added 2 boys to their family. The couple built their retirement home in Mayberry in Sylvania in 2005. Gale passed away in 2019.
Patti worked as RN at Toledo Hospital for many years on the orthopedic floor. Later, she accepted a position with a GI doctor, and this office grew to become Digestive Healthcare. She retired in the mid 90’s.
Church was a very large part of Patti’s life, from Luther League at Martin Luther Church on the east side, to singing in the choir at Zion Lutheran Church in Ottawa Lake. She was a member of the Ladies’ Circle. Patti enjoyed singing so much that she joined the Pride of Toledo Sweet Adeline’s. For many years, she and Gale traveled to these competitions across the country with their camper. They loved camping in their 5th wheel camper and took many grandchildren on their camping trips.
Patricia was preceded in death by parents; sisters Jean (Robert) Tipton, Lois (Edward) Smith, Joyce (Col. Max) Scheider; Daughter Cindi Young; Husbands Melvin Scott and Gale Vaughan; Sons-in-Law Steven Lauffer, Ronald Ticchi, Mike Young, and Rory Hand.
She is survived by daughters Cathi Vaughan and Cheri (Hand); sons Steven (Jenn) Vaughan and David (Jamie) Vaughan; brother-in-law Jerry (Mary) Scott. Patti has seventeen Grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren with number seventeen to be born in January in Fairbanks. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Patti will be Friday December 15, 2023 at Zion Lutheran Church in Ottawa Lake Michigan. Visitation will be at 11:00am with services following at 12:00pm.
