Patricia Tyler

December 3, 1943 — May 12, 2025

It is with profound sadness that the family of Patricia Isabel Tyler shares the news of her death

on May 12, 2025 at the age of 81. Pat was a strong woman of faith, a dynamic member of the

community, a dear friend, a beloved sister, an engaged aunt, a devoted wife, and an extremely

proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Daughter of Ray and Isabel Morgan, Pat was born and grew up in Youngstown, Ohio with older

sister Joan (Steve) Zurich and younger sister Judy (Rick) Maczka. A lively young woman, Pat

graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School and went on to study nursing.

A lifelong love story, Pat married Timothy Allen Tyler in 1962 and celebrated 60 years together

before his passing in 2022. Together they welcomed four children–Tami (Kim), Bryan (Anne),

Shawn (Kelley), and Tod (Heather). They raised their family in Avon Lake, Ohio as active

members of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Pat was involved in their academic, music, and sport

endeavors, and very proud that all of her children have dedicated their careers to caring for

people, communities, and the nation.

Upon Tim’s retirement in 2000, the couple moved to Punta Gorda, Florida, where Pat has

resided for the past 25 years. Pat has been deeply grateful for the many close friendships she

enjoyed in Ventura Lakes and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Pat was defined by her volunteerism. From imaginative decor for parish dances to extensive

events (yard sales, fashion shows) to raise funds for community needs, she provided countless

hours of leadership throughout the years. Among other activities, Pat supported the important

work of the St. VIncent DePaul Society and Knights of Columbus.

Aside from her children and grandchildren, Pat's most enduring legacy will result from the time,

effort, and love she invested in growing the Wreaths Across America program in Punta Gorda.

She took great joy and satisfaction in recognizing the uniformed men and women who serve the

United States of America. She was honored to be able to lead such a visible act of respect and

gratitude each year. On her behalf, we thank the countless friends, service members,

volunteers, community/government leaders, and others who supported her in this important

work.

The family will host an open house and celebration of life next spring; details to follow. We

encourage those who would like to remember Pat to consider a donation to Wreaths Across

America, Punta Gorda Chapter, in support of this year’s ceremony scheduled for

December 13,2025 at 10:00 am.
