Patricia Jeanne Lenortavage (Wells) passed away June 11, 2022, one day shy of her 79th birthday. Born June 12, 1943, in Toledo, Ohio, Patricia (Pat) is preceded in death by her mother Helen Wells (Garwood) and father Richard Wells. She is survived by her loving husband John, married 32 years; daughters Julie (Robert), Stephanie (Nicholas), Natalie (Peter); brother John (Mary); nieces Kathryn, Libby, Jillian; grandsons Landon and Bennett. A graduate of The University of Toledo, Pat started teaching at DeVilbiss High School in 1967. After a distinguished 36-year career, Pat retired in 2002 from Rogers High School. Evermore the educator, following her retirement, Pat entered the docent program at The Toledo Museum of Art. Pat was an extraordinary wife, mother, daughter, sister, educator, and friend. Her family meant the world to her. Grandma Pat wore superhero capes and masks; fumbled through weekly video calls (she always proclaimed she wasn’t “tech savvy”); built Legos; assembled puzzles; and made sure she lost every swim race to which she was challenged by her beloved grandsons. She never missed her daughter’s sporting events; she loved to travel with her husband John; she cherished lunch dates with lifelong girlfriends; and spending time with her family at weekend or holiday get-togethers brought her immeasurable joy. Always putting others before herself, Pat never wanted anyone to fuss or go out of their way for her. When you met her, she would learn all she could about you. She asked sincere questions, listened intently and proffered advice as needed. When you spoke with her again, she picked up exactly where the conversation concluded as if it had never ended at all, recalling specific names, dates, and events with remarkable acuity. She truly had a genuine interest in others’ well-being. Pat took nothing for granted; she navigated obstacles and adversity with courage, strength, and tenacity, even beating a rare form of breast cancer back in 2011. She lived her life with utmost graciousness and kindness. There are some people who make such a profound impact on others, people you remember for how they made you feel, that person was Patricia Jeanne Lenortavage. Pat’s sincere, gracious, caring, and kind-hearted nature will be remembered by many, but her most resounding gift is that of mom, wife, grandma, sister, mother-in-law, and friend. She will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts. A call service will be held at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Friday, June 24, at 10:00 am followed by a mass at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or St. Andrews Episcopal Church where Patricia was a long-time parishioner.
