Olga Lehman, 90, of Toledo, Ohio, died on December 2, 2020. Olga was a life-long Toledoan. She was born to Catherine and Joachim Kropchuck and was the fourth of six children. She graduated from Woodward High School in 1947 and was an enthusiastic Polar Bear. She worked as a secretary for the Shoreline Railroad for 17 years until her first child was born. She returned to work in 1979 at the Franklin Park Mall J.C. Penney store when her children were all in school and retired in 1991. She was married to Ferdinand “Jerry” Lehman for over 50 years. After 13 years of marriage they were finally blessed with children, having six daughters over the next eight years. Olga was a devoted mother. She loved to pile all the girls in the car and drive up to A & W in Blissfield for root beer floats. She sewed prairie dresses and bonnets for each daughter for the 1976 Bicentennial celebration. She was a Girl Scout cookie mom—who knew Brownies could sell 300 cases of cookies! She delivered ad papers weekly to help pay tuition for Catholic education for all six girls. Trips to the strawberry patch and apple orchard were yearly events. Boys finally entered the family with the birth of grandsons, Adam, Nicholas, and Matthew. Jessica staked her claim as her only granddaughter. She was a long-time member of Christ the King Catholic Church, and was a fan of the choir where her oldest daughter sang for many years. She went with the choir on two tours to Europe visiting Italy and Austria. She loved a good musical. She line danced with the seniors for many years. She was always up for a road trip and traveled all over the US including going to Denver to see Pope John Paul II for World Youth Day. She cruised to Alaska and rode a dog sled. She made several trips to California to visit family. No trip was complete without a shopping excursion and eating out. Her daughters used to tease her that Marco was her boyfriend since she ordered Marco’s pizza so much! She cheered for the Ohio State and Notre Dame football teams. Olga was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Mike Tupitza, Lydia Czesak, Andrew Kropchuk, Gloria Coffield, and Norman Kropchuk; husband; and grandson (Adam Sentle). She is survived by her daughters: Cathy (Paul Ganss) Hostettler, Susan Lehman, Anne (Jim) Grimes, Gerri (James) Brown, Barbara Lehman, and Mary (Butch) Lehman-Schmidt and grandchildren: Nicholas Sentle, Jessica Grimes, and Matthew Schmidt. And multiple nieces and nephews. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, services will be scheduled in the Spring. Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Eleanor Kahle Senior Center, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, or Christ the King Catholic Church. Special thanks to all the friends at Eleanor Kahle Senior Center, Deacon Robb Beisser, Hospice of NW Ohio, and Gary Miller DPM, who all helped to support our Mom and bring joy to her life.
