Norma Jean Love Patterson was born on a farm near Summerfield (Noble County) Ohio, on June 1, 1934, to Ross Love and Grace (Orr) Love. Jean attended Summerfield Schools for 11 years and then graduated from Cambridge High School in 1952. She attended The Ohio State University and became an avid OSU football fan. She married Jack Patterson on July 1, 1956.

Jean retired in 2000 after 32 years with Brooks Insurance Agency as administrative assistant to the CEO. She was an avid reader and a member of Friends of the Library. She was a member of Maumee United Methodist Church and active in the Methodist Women and Bible Seekers class. She loved traveling. She and Jack enjoyed many trips to Europe and many cruises. She loved music and attending plays at the Stranahan Theatre and in Toronto.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant brother, Harold Richard Love; brother, Howard L. Love; and sister, Arline Smith. She is survived by her husband, Jack; brother, Ross Love, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; daughter, Beth Michalski, of Middleville, MI; granddaughters, Michelle (Andrew) Thompson, of Hastings, MI, Mallory (Kyle) Schmidt, of Wayland, MI; and great-grandchildren, Nolan, Kadence, Brody and Peyton.

A memorial service will be held at Maumee UMC, on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at 12:00 pm. Burial will be at a later date in Center, OH.
