Norma J. Fleischmann

March 14, 1931 — October 18, 2024

Norma Jean (Fair) Fleischmann, of Walbridge, Ohio, age 93 years old, left this world and entered her eternal home, to be with her Lord and Savior, on Friday, October 18, 2024. She is now free from any pain or worries she suffered. Norma was born on March 14, 1931, the daughter of Merlin and Elizabeth (Lane) Fair, in Toledo, Ohio. She often reminisced on her time growing up in the South End of Toledo, as being filled with happy days. She came from a very strong, and closely knit German family. She attended Whitney High School, where she met her husband, Henry Fleischmann. The rest was history! The two married as teenagers, and shortly after, welcomed their only child, Roberta, into the world. They moved from their home in Point Place, Ohio, to Walbridge, Ohio, where they remained for 50 years. Norma and Henry enjoyed over 77 years of marriage, and the pair were known to never be seen without the other.

Norma accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of 20. She was the family prayer warrior and took great pride in doing so. She was very fond of listening to music, especially Christian hymns like “Great is Thy Thankfullness” and "My Tribute (To God Be the Glory)”, which she often had playing during the day.

Norma was also a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and was a talented home baker. She often made beautiful cakes for events and for her family and friends. Norma sure will be missed for her delicious German potato salad and Red Waldorf cake, that no one can recreate!

Norma and Henry were both very active in Ohio Truck Driving Rodeo, where they spent their summers practicing for truck driving competitions. Henry, with Norma by his side, experienced great success, being a four-time National Champion. The two enjoyed traveling together and were able to visit both Germany and Hawaii, twice. Norma was an excellent seamstress, and even made her own wedding dress and coat, and wedding veil for her daughter, Roberta; leaving behind something she can treasure forever.

Family was the upmost important thing to Norma. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the apple of her eye. She spent much time traveling to visit them, chaperoning school trips, and making timeless memories with them.

Norma was known for being a positive and happy person. She was very easy to please, and never demanding. She never took her time on earth for granted and made the most out of each minute. She often recalled each day as “a pretty day.” She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory include her husband, of 77 years, Henry Fleischmann; daughter, Roberta Herr; grandchildren, Jeffrey Alan (Monica), Eric Jordan; great-grandsons, Jacob and Zachary; brother, Norman Fair; sister-in-law, Carrie Mariea; brother-in-law, Jim Fleischmann; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and beloved neighbors, who always cared and treated Norma and Henry so well. Norma is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Patsy Thigpen; brothers, Bob (Rita) Fair and Charlie Fair.

In honor of Norma, live every day as a “pretty day” and spread as much kindness to others as you can.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the Kingston Assisted Living and Hospice of Northwest Ohio nurses and staff, who took excellent care of Norma.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
