Nina Kay (Whitmore) Goodrick, age 73 years old, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, passed away on August 15, 2023, at Ottawa Riverview Healthcare and under the care of Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Nina was born on February 7, 1950, in Hutchinson, Kansas, the daughter of Benjamin and Betty Whitmore. She graduated high school in Hutchinson and cherished the times she traveled back to her hometown to visit her loved ones and renew and maintain her high school friendships. Often joining her in her travels was her lifelong companion of 25 years, Terry. Many memories have been spent while riding their motorcycles together. Not much in life could make her happier than a big family get together, spending time with her family and friends made her heart happy. In her spare time, Nina enjoyed oil, acrylic, and watercolor painting and crafting on her potter’s wheel. She was a humorous woman. She often joked that she spent her entire life correcting the pronunciation of her name, but always with a laugh and smile. For those who don’t know, Nina is pronounced with a long I, as in the word “China”. (I know she is laughing about this).
Nina was a loving and caring person, who had a true love of life. She did her best to live it to the fullest. She battled cancer off and on since 1999. She had a true fighter’s spirit and didn’t let anything get her down. Her determination for life allowed her to complete a few items off her bucket list. Two of these are skydiving and parasailing! Her vibrant personality and strength will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish Nina’s memory include her partner, Terry Nitschke; their blended family, Wendra Thompson, Kristen (Paul) Klevann, Stephanie (Kevin) Reid, Ryan Goodrick, Tiff Beaupre, and Allyson (Tim) Webb; ten grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers, Lamont and best friend and sister-in-law, Cindy Whitmore, Ricky Whitmore, and Tim (Amy) Whitmore; two beautiful huskies, Nikos, and Sasha, who she adored very much.
The family would like to extend a Thank You to the hospice staff, specifically, Nurse Amy, and aides Riley and Tess, as well as the entire suite 2 staff at Ottawa Riverview, especially Jodi and Dawn, for their amazing care and compassion for Nina.
The family will be hosting an open house celebration of life on August 26, 2023, from 12:00-4:00 pm, at 13811 Devils Hole Road, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402. Any floral orders may be delivered to this address, as well.
A second celebration of Nina's life will be held in Kansas at Lamont Whitmore's Residence, 376 Third Ave., Inman, KS 67546 on Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 12:00 - 4:00 pm.
