Obituary

Nancy Ann Tilenius, 82, formerly of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026, at her home in Maumee, surrounded by her family.

Born in Toledo, Ohio on December 23, 1943 to Frieda (Hullenkremer) and Erich Tilenius, Nancy grew up in the Toledo area and graduated from Linden Hall School for Girls in Lititz, Pennsylvania. She then spent a year at Pensionnat Florissant in Lausanne, Switzerland, before attending Vassar College to study German. Nancy went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in German from the University of Toledo.

Nancy had a lifelong love of animals and dedicated much of her adult life to rescuing critters of all kinds and volunteering at several local organizations. She was never without at least one beloved furry companion in her life.

Nancy also had a passion for antiques, a love that led her to open her own antique shop, the Critter Caboose. When she was not at the shop, she spent many happy hours searching auctions and estate sales for special pieces to sell. She was especially delighted when she found a piece of Roseville pottery to add to her own collection.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and her former husband, Ronald Stieben.

She is survived by her children, Eric (Jodi) Walker and Leigh Anne (John) Eward; her grandchildren, Justin Walker, Claire (Alesia) Hughey, Emma Eward, and Alexander Eward; and her cat, Murphy.

No services will be held at this time. Memorial contributions may be made in Nancy’s name to an animal rescue organization of the donor’s choice.
