Nancy Kapudjija

Nancy was born on October 16, 1948, in Toledo, Ohio, to Ed and Margaret Monahan. As the middle of five children, she shared a special bond with her older brother Mike and developed a lifelong love of caring for others while helping raise her younger siblings, Tim and Brian. She loved reading, cooking with her mother, and making friends with her natural gift for conversation. A proud majorette at Bowsher High School, she later married her high school sweetheart, Larry Benington, in 1969.

Together they raised their children-Eric, Matt, and Molly-and welcomed two bonus children, Matt Brixey and Brandie (Gardner) Benington. Being a mother was her greatest joy. She stayed close to her children's lives through teaching, volunteering, and never missing a single event. Her warmth and ability to connect with anyone led her through many roles, but her true passion was interior design, where her creativity shined.

Nancy was known for her impeccable style, unforgettable gatherings, and especially her beloved Christmas Eve celebrations. Becoming a grandmother brought her immense joy, and her grandchildren-Madison, Ellie, Morgan, and Jacob-filled her life with new meaning. She shared these years with her true love, Danny Kapudjija, traveling, building a business, and filling every room with laughter.

Though she often underestimated herself, those who knew her saw a woman who was creative, kind, beautiful inside and out, and deeply loved. She didn't want an obituary or a service-so please raise a glass in her honor and remember her as she was to you.
