Nancy L. De La Garza

Nancy Louise De La Garza passed away peacefully on October 1, 2022 at the age of 76, after battling Parkinson's disease for many years.

She attended McAuley High School and graduated from Miami University of Ohio with a degree in French, after spending her senior year studying at the Sorbonne in Paris, France. She taught French for one year in Willard, Ohio, before moving to Monterrey, Mexico, where she married Ulises De La Garza and taught English at the Berlitz Monterrey. Upon returning to Toledo, Nancy's love of languages led her to teach ESL classes for adults for many years. She also completed the MBA program at the University of Toledo.

Nancy enjoyed traveling, and took many trips to Europe, always including a stay in France. She also enjoyed exploring many of the National Parks out west. A lover of the arts, she was a volunteer usher for years at many Toledo venues. Nancy loved nature and animals, especially birds.

Nancy is survived by her beloved daughter, Melanie Aleman de la Garza of Portland, Oregon; grandchildren, Natasha and Madox Khanna; sisters, Donna Burkhardt and Mary LaRoe, and brother, Jim Rippel.
