Molly Dean

November 20, 1934 — January 18, 2025

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Molly (Mattingly) Carter-Dean, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She departed this world peacefully in her sleep on January 18, 2025, after a long illness.


Molly Dean was born on November 20, 1934, in Bardstown Kentucky, from a family of 13. She graduated for Bardstown High School as Valedictorian, and after graduating she married Russell Carter Jr. They immediately moved to Germany while he was in the Army and were married 9 years. After her divorce she took care of her 4 children by herself. Working as a domestic for many years. Throughout her life, she exemplified kindness, generosity, unwavering strength and a dedicated faith in God. She devoted her life to her family especially her children, always prioritizing their needs above her own and ensuring that her home was filled with love and warmth. She was known as the Kool-Aid mom by other children in the neighborhood, also known for her selfless acts and charitable spirit. Molly possessed a passion for travel, crocheting, and loved to gamble a bit, she was from near Louisville and loved the horses. She frequently shared her talents with those around her, bringing joy and comfort to many.


Her legacy is carried on by her children, Russell Carter III, Pastor Randall Carter (Wanda), Renita Taylor, and Regina Carter, she has 10 grandchildren and her numerous friends who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be remembered for her infectious laughter, her sense of humor, her wise counsel, and the unconditional love she bestowed upon everyone she met.


A memorial service will be held on February 8, 2025, at Resurrection Baptist Church 3360 Nebraska Ave Toledo Ohio 43607 Family Hour 10:00am-11:00am with service starting at 11:00am. Where family and friends can gather to celebrate her remarkable life. Flowers can be sent to her son Randall Carter @6801 Kristi Lynne Ln Toledo Ohio 43617, and they will be taken to service from there unless they are delivered the day of the service to the church. The family kindly requests that any cash donations be made to Cashapp $RC3360.


Though she is no longer with us, the memory of Molly will forever remain in our hearts. We find solace in knowing that she is now at peace, reunited with those who have gone before her. Rest in peace, Mama Your love and spirit will guide us always.
