Michael J Romstadt

Michael J. Romstadt, age 76, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born on February 21, 1949, in Toledo, Ohio, Michael spent his life devoted to service, family, and quiet strength. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran, having proudly served two tours of duty during the Vietnam War. Mike carried his dedication to duty and honor throughout his entire life by finding his calling in the Fire and EMS Service. He served as a Senior Fire Instructor at the MARAD Fire Training Center for 34 years. During his career, Michael trained countless Firefighters, First Responders and Shipboard Firefighters, locally, throughout the United States, and overseas. His legacy in the fire service will continue through the lives he guided, the careers he shaped, and the safety skills he instilled in others. Michael’s life was defined by service to his country, to his community and to his family. He was a lifelong fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and The Beach Boys. 

Michael grew up in Toledo, raised his family in Northwood, and ultimately made his home in Rossford, Ohio. His greatest joy came from his family. He was the loving father of four sons; Stephen(Brandy), Tim(Amy), John(Nicole), and Michael(Monica) and proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. His family will forever remember his integrity, his work ethic, and the pride he held for each of them. Michael is also survived by his brothers, Gil, Tom and Danny; sisters, Ruth, Mary Ann and Ellen; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Joseph; brother, Joe and sister, Jan. 

A private service will be held at a later date.
