Michael "Mike" Rego

Mike “Chico” Rego, 69, of Maumee, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio after a difficult battle with cancer.

Born in Toledo, Ohio Mike attended Rogers High School. A friend to many and always willing to lend a helping hand, Mike was a passionate outdoorsman and found joy in the beauty of nature. Whether hiking through the mountains, fishing the Great Lakes or camping under the stars on one of many trips to Canada, Mike enjoyed many adventures throughout his lifetime. He had visited St. Lucia in recent years and would describe the island life to everyone he knew and talked about how he couldn’t wait to go back. A painter by trade, he had many construction talents.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Al and Marlene Rego. He is survived by his son, Michael and daughter, Danielle (David) Kolbenschlag; brothers, Pat and Tom (Kathy) Rego; niece and nephews, David (Jenna), Kristin and Ryan (Lauren), as well as extended family.

A family gathering to include a celebration of life will be held at a later time in 2025.

The family wishes to thank the Hospice of Northwest Ohio staff for their care and compassion in his final days. Mike will be remembered as a dad, brother, uncle, and lifelong friend to so many.
