Michael Mockensturm

Michael Mockensturm, 57, of Maumee, OH. Passed away peacefully at home with his wife at his side on October 30, 2021. If you knew Michael “Mike”, you can understand the void that his passing has left for his family and friends. An avid hunter and fisherman, he loved the outdoors. Always good natured, with a contagious laugh, you couldn’t miss his presence. Michael was born in Toledo, Ohio on August 2, 1964 to Carl Mockensturm and Carol (Czyzewski) Haas. He attended St. Joe Catholic Grade School in Maumee, Ohio and Evergreen H.S. in Evergreen, Colorado. Michael took up bull riding and continued at Mesa State College for a short period of time. He joined the Air Force in 1984 where he was part of the 3415th Security Police Squadron at Lowry Air Force Base in Aurora, CO. After the military he moved back to Ohio, where he worked different jobs and owned and operated many business throughout the years. He married the love of his life LeAnn (Patterson) on September 19, 2020. Michael is preceded in death by his grandparents, and his sister, Melissa Gardner. He is survived by his wife, LeAnn; parents, Carl (Geraldine) Mockensturm and Carol (Francis) Haas; his children, Alissa, Ashley and Abigail; step-children, Austin (Daphne), Chelsea, and Megan; brother, Mark (Rob Salem); sisters, Marilyn (Will) Gentz, Margretta (John) Risi, and Michele (Joe) Topor; 6 grandchildren; numerous, nieces, nephews and cousins; and legions of close friends who were like family to him. Michael “Mike”, we will never forget your optimism, zest for life and your courage when life dealt you serious challenges. A Celebration of Life will be held on November 15, 2021 at Monclova Community Center, 8115 Monclova Road, Monclova, OH 43542, from 1 pm- 4:30 pm.
