Obituary

Michael McGee, 56, of Ottawa Hills, passed away on August 18, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Born on December 6, 1969, Mike was the son of Bonnie Phillips. He grew up in Oregon, Ohio, and graduated from Clay HS. As a three-sport athlete Mike excelled in football, basketball, and baseball. Mike continued his education at Kent State University, earning his bachelor’s degree in business.

Mike was a devoted husband and father, and his family was the center of his life. He shared 25 loving years of marriage with his wife, Tonya (Susor) McGee. Together they built a life filled with faith, love, laughter, and travel. Mike and Tonya were parents to three children, Hailey, Michael, and Matthew. Throughout their childhood, Mike coached and mentored all 3 kids in their sporting activities. Mike coached soccer, baseball, softball, volleyball, and basketball. Mike carried out his coaching with confidence, and he loved sharing his knowledge of the game. He considered the role of a coach to extend far beyond the field, mentoring many young men and women throughout the years. Mike loved to spend his time with his wife and kids watching Michigan football, basketball and everything else Maize and Blue.

Mike was a successful businessman and an exceptional golfer. His career as a traveling businessman afforded him the opportunity to golf at many courses around the country. He never met a course he wouldn’t play. Mike could play a round with anyone. If you asked him how you could improve your game, he would put on his coaching hat and give you some tips. Mike ended his golf career as the Player of the Year at Brandywine Country Club.

Mike concluded his career in the pet industry with 3T Brands, where he played an instrumental role in the company’s growth. Through his hard work and genuine relationships, he earned the deep respect of his colleagues. Mike had many friends throughout the industry that deeply admired him, many of whom he had mentored.

Mike’s faith in Jesus Christ was a deeply important part of his life. He found great comfort and purpose in guiding his family toward personal relationships with Christ. His time here was far too short, but the impact Mike made on the lives of his family and friends will live on forever. Those who knew Mike will remember him for his sense of humor, competitiveness, loyalty, faith, and generosity. Mike had a way of making people laugh and lighting up every room he walked in.

Mike is survived by his mother and stepfather, Bonnie (Dan) Phillips; his brothers, Joe Phillips, Jake Phillips, Brian (Denise) McGee, David Bialorucki; and his sister, Lisa Phillips. He was also survived by his father and mother-in-law, Tom Sr. and Sandy Susor; brother-in-law, Tom Jr. (Gina) Susor, sister-in-law, Tammy (Susor) Damore; and many nieces and nephews, that he loved dearly.

We will be celebrating Mike’s life on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Grace Community Church (4035 Williston Rd, Northwood, OH 43619). Doors open at 10:00 am with the church service starting at 11:00 am. A Celebration of Life will be hosted immediately after at Brandywine Country Club (6904 Salisbury Rd, Maumee, OH 43537) until 5:00 pm. Dress is casual at both events. Please come and share a buffet lunch and tell stories of Mike’s amazing life with family and friends.
