Melissa S. King, of Perrysburg, Ohio passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at the Promedica Ebeid Hospice Residence in Sylvania, Ohio. She was born in Toledo on April 30, 1987 to Edward and Susan (Maier) King III. Left behind to treasure Missys memory are her mother and grandparents, Sue King (Perrysburg), Ann Maier-Sugg (Sylvania, OH) and Edward and Pauline King Jr (Bradenton, FL); Aunts, Uncles and Cousins: Michael and Karen Dibling, Matthew, Ashley and Nicole; Henry and Diane Maier, Patrick and Mary Beth; Stephen and Debbie Maier, Katie (Jonathan) McDonald, Alex (Jenna), Keith and Carole Holzhauer, Gregory and Julie. There are numerous great aunts and uncles, second and third cousins and extended family who mourn her loss. Missy was preceded in death by her father, Edward P. King III, her sister, Megan Elizabeth, and her beloved grandfather, Henry J. Maier and step-grandfather Robert D. Sugg. Missy attended Kents Hill School in Kents Hill, Maine and was a 2005 graduate of Perrysburg High School. She graduated from the Salon Professional Academy in Perrysburg Ohio in 2007 and attended Bowling Green State University from 2008 2012. She was enrolled in the Bachelor of Fine Arts program, specializing in ceramics. Missy was also involved in the glass and ceramics programs at the Toledo Museum of Art. Missy traveled to Australia in early 2014 and was a member of and taught at a Perth Potters Association. Most recently Missy was the Department Head of Arts and Crafts at Camp Vega for Girls in Fayette, Maine. Missy enjoyed photography, styling, and was an unabashed dog lover. Missy was cherished by many and will be remembered for her love of life, travel, adventure, creativity, loyalty, wit, gregarious laugh and ever present sense of humor. She built a very strong network of friends, many of whom are closer to her than family. Many are here in the northern Ohio area, but more are scattered throughout the US and world: Florida, Colorado, Massachusetts, Texas, Illinois, Maine, New York, Scotland, England, Mexico and Australia to name a few. A group of her friends were with her at hospice as she moved on to her next adventure: Ryan, Scott, Kyle, Mary Lynne, Lauren, Mark, Anita, Beth, Travis, Megan, Levi, Chris B., Chris K, Marcus, Sam, and Justin (I apologize if I missed anyone). Missys friends are the most genuine, loving, loyal and dedicated group of friends one could ever be blessed to have. Per Missys request, there will be a private memorial party in her honor on Friday, January 2, 2015 at The Pinnacle in Maumee. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Flower Hospitals Emergency Room, Intensive Care Unit and Ebeid Hospice for their exceptional support, comfort and care. In lieu of flowers, the Melissa S. King Memorial Fund has been established to accept donations to provide scholarship funds for children to attend art camps in the Midwest and Camp Vega. On-going fundraising will continue to support scholarship programs at art camps, Camp Vega, the Toledo Museum of Art and Bowling Green State University. Donations can be made at any Fifth Third Bank Branch in the name of the Melissa S. King Memorial Fund, or by mailing a check (Made out to Melissa S King Memorial Fund) to 136 W. 7th St. Perrysburg, OH 43551, or through the online funding source GoFundMe.
