Matthew Westhoven

Matthew A. Westhoven age 37, passed away peacefully on Monday July 14, 2025, at St. Vincent Hospital due to respiratory complications.

He was born on May 25, 1988, to Bernard and Kim Westhoven. Matthew attended Liberty Center High School. Following his education, he went into the work field before developing multiple health issues. He enjoyed fishing and mushroom hunting with his father.

Matthew had a kind caring heart and touched the lives of many. His final act of kindness was to give the gift of life through organ donation and was able to fulfill that wish to not one but numerous people.

Matthew was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Westhoven. He is survived by his mother, Kim Westhoven; brother, Ryan Smith (Amanda); sister, Erin Westhoven; nephews, Chase, Alan, Colton Andrew along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Northcrest Nursing Center, St. Vincent Hospital and Life Connection of Ohio for their compassionate care.

A celebration of life will be held in Matthew’s honor at a later time.
