Mary Ellen Sielicki, a former Ada resident who served the Hardin County Office on Aging, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, at the University of Toledo Medical Center following complications from pneumonia. In addition to her work in Toledo-area nursing homes, Mary Ellen, 65, operated Victorian Manor Assisted Living in Toledo for nearly 14 years. From 1980 to 1983 she was office and fiscal manager for the agency in Kenton, where she met her future husband, Jim Sielicki. She was board president of Seneca Countys chapter of the American Cancer Society and interim executive director. Mary Ellen, youngest of three sisters, was born on Jan. 8, 1952, in Lafayette, Ohio, to Bill and Mildred Martin. She was a 1974 graduate of Ohio Northern University, majoring in English and speech. She was a member of the ONU choir during its European concert tour. Her marriage to Bruce Williams, a fellow ONU student, ended in divorce. The couple had a son, Matthew Alan Williams, who died March 28, 2013. She married Jim on Oct. 2, 1982, in Ada, Ohio, after a whirlwind courtship. The two met while he was photographing the new Office on Aging for the Kenton Times. She was a member of the Ohio Eastern Stars and served Tiffin chapter 189 as worthy matron in1988 and 1992, and deputy grand matron1991. In addition to her parents and son, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sue (Lynn) Vogt. She is survived by her husband, Jim; a sister Beverly (William) Irwin of Springfield, Ohio; granddaughters Hallie Williams and Hannah Mason Williams, and a cousin and very dear friend, Richard and Marty Oakley of Perrysburg. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Toledo. Visitation in the narthex will begin an hour before and a wake will follow at 2 p.m. at Manhattans,1516 Adams St. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery will be private.” Arrangements were handled by the Cremation Society of Toledo.
