Mary Sherwood

May 10, 1923 — April 11, 2020

Mary was peacefully taken into the arms of Jesus, in time to celebrate her first Easter in Heaven. Mary was born in Erie, MI to the late Charles & Loretta (LaVoy) DuVall, where she was raised on the family farm. Mary was a 1942 graduate of Central Catholic High School in Toledo. She was always talented and fond of the arts. She moved to Chicago in the late 1940’s, working as a photo retoucher. She met and married her Montana husband, Ralph L. Sherwood in 1951. They moved back to Toledo to raise their family. Mary worked for Washington Local Schools for 35 years and retired in 1991. In her spare time, Mary enjoyed arts and crafts. She was active with the Toledo Ceramics Club, Good Bears of America, as well as the Boy and Girl Scouts. She loved theater productions and assisted in the set up at Washington Local Schools. Mary was always ready to help out and share her artistic skills. She loved to travel and was always on the go. After she retired, Mary still helped out with estate sales and enjoyed working in her yard. She loved shopping with her two sisters, spending time at family gatherings and spoiling her grandkids. Mary is survived by her three children, Mark (Jenny) Sherwood, Scott (Brenda) Sherwood and Lori (Joseph) Malaczewski; grandchildren, Andrew J. (Natalie) Malaczewski, Mikaela (Jacob) Sorber, Sloane V. Sherwood, and Chase E. Sherwood; great-grandchildren, Aurora and Reese, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph L. Sherwood; siblings, LaVern DuVall, Rita Albaugh, Dorothy Benore. There will be no visitation or burial services. A Celebration of Mary’s Life is being planned for the summertime, when we can gather as family and friends.
