Mary Denner

Mary E. Denner, age 70, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, in Toledo. She was born November 20, 1954, in Toledo, Ohio to Harrison and Irene (Masler) Bass.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas “Mike” Denner, to whom she was married for forty years; sister, Laura Scherer; and brothers, Ronald and Gerald Bass. Mary is survived by her brother, Richard Bass and brother-in-law, Marty Bugg; sister-in-law, Sue Bass; along with numerous nieces and nephews who affectionately called her “Aunt Mame.”

She worked as a patient advocate at Mercy Hospital from the age of eighteen until she retired in 2020. She loved people and helped many through difficult times with her smiling face and joyful way of looking at life. Mercy is also where she met her best friend of forty-four years, Bev Zahn.

Most of all, she loved her family and was a prayer warrior for all of us every day. Mary also enjoyed the outdoors and working in her gardens.

The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo for their help and care during Mary’s final days. She will be truly missed by her family and friends.
