Martha Gluth

January 18, 1946 — February 13, 2025

Martha “Marty” (Freytag) Gluth, was a caring mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She drifted out of this earthly life on February 13, 2025, at the age of 79.

She was born to John and Della May Freytag, on January 18, 1946, just minutes before her twin sister, Melinda, in San Francisco, CA. Shortly thereafter, the family made their way to northwest Ohio where she graduated from Oak Harbor High School. Being from a musical family, she was accomplished at playing the French horn and violin. A beautiful lady who did some modeling in her younger years as well. Martha attended Miami University (where she was a real party animal) but soon returned to Oak Harbor to marry, William Gluth, and start a family in the Toledo area. Her career spanned many years in the administrative field from Toledo Clinic to Vision Associates.

Martha enjoyed cooking, gardening, and loved her family, church family and God. Stopping by for a visit in her later years, you would find her watching Hallmark movies with Vernors and M&Ms close by. She was a loving and patient mother. Never quick to anger and quick to forgive. Her love language was food – especially sweet treats. Always ready to make a tray of cookies to thank others for their kindness.

She lived in Perrysburg for the past 14 years, with her loving twin sister, Melinda Gallant. She was deeply involved with her church family as well – a special thank you to Cathy and Rob Jarosz for helping with rides and appointments. A member of First Presbyterian Church in Perrysburg, Martha was quick to help during Presby Pie sales, and also quick to buy a pie or two herself.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, John and Della May Freytag. She is survived by her children, Heather (Michael) Managhan, Amy Gluth, and Erica (William) Haase; grandchildren, Katrina (Adam), Jillian, Paige, Mackenzie, Brennan, Grayson, and Cayden; great granddaughter, Huxleigh; sister, Melinda Gallant; nieces, nephews, and many friends and extended family.

A celebration of life service will be held this Spring on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church in Perrysburg, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Presbyterian Church of Perrysburg, St. Jude’s, or the Sight Center of Northwest Ohio.
