Marlaine M. Gauthier passed away on January 30, 2015. She was born in Toledo on April 15, 1956. She was a 1974 graduate of St. Ursula Academy. She attended the University of Cincinnati her freshman year, where she was a member of the Womens Wildcats Varsity basketball team. Marlaine obtained her Bachelors from Ohio University in Industrial Engineering. She went on to receive her Masters degree from the University of Toledo in Health Care Administration. Most recently Marlaine was working on her PhD. Before taking an early retirement, Marlaine most recently worked at the Hylant Group as a Senior Manager. She also owned her own consulting firm, Draco, Inc., dealing with long term strategic planning. She was also a Senior Manager for KPMG Peat Marwick. As part of her decade long consulting career she also managed an international consulting team focusing on health care and pharmaceutical clients in London, Paris, and Berlin. Marlaine also worked for several prominent hospitals and healthcare centers in Ohio, including the Toledo Hospital, St. Charles, and W.W. Knight Family Practice. Marlaine was an accomplished artist with her works having been displayed at the Toledo Museum of Art for the Art in the Workplace Project her pieces are displayed throughout Toledo and in private collections. She traveled extensively throughout Europe and the United States. Marlaine had a generous spirit, having contributed to numerous charities and fund raising projects throughout her adult life. Marlaine was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Corrine Gauthier, and grandparents, Edward and Victoria Poczekaj and Frank and Bess Gauthier. Left to cherish her memory is her “hermanita” Michelle Gauthier. A memorial service for Marlaine will be held on Sunday, February 15, from 2-4 PM at the Toledo Unity Church, 3535 Executive Parkway, Toledo. Memorial contributions in Marlaines name may be sent to a donation of the donors choice. God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.
