Mark Alan Landis

Mark A. "Barney" Landis, 75, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 20, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was raised in Toledo by his parents, Lillian and Frank Knakiewicz and James and Beatrice Landis. He graduated from Morrison R. Waite High School in 1969. Later that year, he began his career at the Chrysler Machining Plant in Perrysburg, Ohio. He worked there for more than 38 years as a proud UAW member before his well-deserved retirement.

On February 21, 1970, Mark married Marsha Clover. Together they shared more than 56 years of marriage. They often said their faith in Christ was the foundation of their life together.

Mark will be remembered most for his devotion to his family. "Papa" could fix anything and was always helping his family with projects. He enjoyed spending time at the family cottage and loved to swim and fish. Nothing made him happier than watching his kids and grandchildren enjoy life. Mark was a quiet, gentle man of few words. When he did speak, you listened, because something interesting or a bit of well-timed wisdom was sure to follow. Barney was the best patriarch any family could hope for, and his steady presence will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marsha (Clover) Landis; his daughter, Raquel (Landis) Ruiz; his son, Marc (Karrie) Landis; his grandchildren, Ruben (Lareea) Ruiz Jr., Tyler (Kali) Landis, Makenna (Jovell) Ruiz, and Breanna (Jake) Radabaugh; his great-grandchildren, Ja'layiah Crumby-Ruiz, Phoenix Landis, and Nalia and Novella Birdlong; his sisters, Michelle Landis and Patricia (Matthew) Smithers; and his brothers, Michael Landis, Terry Landis, and Fred Johnson.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
