It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marjorie J. Wilbarger, age 87, of Oregon, OH at Orchard Villa Care Center on Sunday Evening May, 18 2014. She was born in Toledo, OH on June 29, 1927 to Robert and Elizabeth Skaggs and raised in Rossford, OH. She graduated from Rossford High School in 1945. She worked at the Rossford Post Office before marrying Gene A. Wilbarger on April 11, 1947. They made their home at Reno Beach in Curtice, OH for many years enjoying the lake living and raising their family of one son and three daughters. She previously was a member of Rossford Methodist Church but after their marriage she and Gene joined St. Lutheran Church in Curtice, OH where the whole family was very active for many years. She was a homemaker for many years and was a Cub Scout Den Mother and Girl Scout leader. She was also Sunday school teacher, organist and choir director at St. Lukes Lutheran Church and in her spare time enjoyed sewing, crafting, baking and decorating wedding cakes for family and friends and thousands of Christmas cookies for the holidays. Together with Gene, they both enjoyed square dancing in full costume for many years and were active in St. Lukes Couples Club. “After the children had grown she worked at the Toledo Lucas County Public Library, Oregon and Main branches, and loved quilting and making Santa Clauses for Christmas. She sang with the Coraliers and later with the Rossford Community Choir. In 1998 she made a centennial quilt for Rossfords Centennial and it hangs in Rossford City Hall. She is survived by her husband Gene of Oregon, OH, son Philip (Jeannine) of Curtice, OH, and daughters Diane Johns (Terry) of Haines City FL, Marcia Harrison (Denny) of Rich Creek, VA and Ellen Wilbarger (Mike Volgelpohl) of Northwood. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great, great child. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Vivian Smith of Rossford and Roberta French of Maumee and great, great grandson Alexander. Family and friends will be received at St. Lukes Lutheran Church, Seaman Rd., Curtice, OH at 10:00 AM on Saturday May 24, 2014 with a memorial service following at 11:00 AM. A luncheon will be served after the service. Interment will be private at a later date. The family wishes to express our sincere thanks to the staff at Orchard Villa Care Center for the great care they gave Marjorie over the last several months.
