Marilyn Hennessy

February 2, 1944 — June 6, 2021

Marilyn L. Hennessy February 2, 1944-June 6, 2021 On Sunday, June 6, 2021, Marilyn L. (Brothers) Hennessy passed away in the care of the Ebeid Hospice Center, Sylvania, Ohio, after health complications. She was surrounded by loved ones during her journey home. She resided in Toledo, Point Place area most of her life and was loved by so many! Her most recent employment was working as part of the administration department for Printer’s III and then retiring from Cenveo, both being printing companies in Toledo. She enjoyed being retired although that took her some time to get used to. A couple of years ago you could find her walking near her home to get some exercise or see her at the YMCA, walking or swimming being a part of the Silver Sneaker’s programs. She loved baseball in particular and thoroughly enjoyed watching her grand kids play sports and tried to attend all the games she could, no matter the weather! Starting in the spring you could find her watching the Detroit Tigers on television. Her friends and family would agree shopping and going out to eat with family and friends, especially when she got to pick the restaurant and try something new were some of her favorite things to do! Deb (Tom) Flowers, Karen Miller, LeeAnn Ford, Pat Woods (deceased) and Paula Parker (deceased) were just some of her out-to-eat companions. Thank you for being faithful friends for such a long time! Friendship is such a rare and beautiful gift! Those who knew her were well aware of how kind-hearted, generous and loving she was and she valued her friendships dearly. She always enjoyed a good laugh and helping anyone she could. Offering a listening ear, sound advice and just being down-to-earth, was something she was really good at! There are a lot of people who are grateful for those wonderful qualities she offered to all! She was adventurous and never minded traveling whether it was going on family vacations through the years, driving to Columbus to visit her son, Todd (Cathy) Hennessy and his family (grandchildren, Nathan, Jillian, Erin and step granddaughter Olivia), or just getting out to spend time with her daughter, Amy (Dan) Flowers and her family (grandchildren, Nick, Casey and Andrew) who lived just a couple miles away in Point Place. Nick(Lisa) Flowers blessed her with two great grandchildren! Ronan and Ryker who are two busy and lucky little boys who got to spend time with her. Amy’s sister-in-law, Bridget (Nick) Kennedy and grandchildren (Blake, Brennan and Carys), who considered Marilyn their grandma as well also enjoyed spending time with her at everyfamily gathering. At least one time a year she would fly to Florida to visit her life-long friend ‘Sis’ (Mary (& Bob) Cumiskey) where she would spend as much time as she could playing cards and enjoying the warm sunshine during cold winter weather. Both Marilyn’s parents and Sis’s parents were friends, so that’s how long they were friends! You do the math! She found a lot of excitement and happiness being around those she loved and she wasn’t afraid to try something new and would say, “what the hell!” and jump right into whatever she was being challenged with or by! Having wonderful neighbors is such a blessing. Marilyn had the fortune of having someone who not only was a great friend but also watched out for her and helped her with whatever she needed, whenever she needed it! Thank you Juliann Conley! Years ago, back in 1986 she grafted in a daughter, with the help of Amy and Todd in which a supposed temporary living arrangement turned into a precious relationship for over 35 years! Michelle (Paul) Beauch become a part of the family and enjoyed many occasions of travel, holidays and special moments with their family. Paul had even coached Todd in baseball so it was a win-win situation! There was a season in life when Marilyn was woven into many aspects of the extended Beauch family. To grandchildren Linda (Ahren) Kwapich, great grandchildren Gavyn and Logan, Joanna (Todd) Williams, May (Zak) Dilworth, greatgrandchildren Donovan and Arianna, Nate Beauch (Megan Hosley) and Nick Beauch, she was a family ‘staple’. She forever changed what the word ‘Mom’ meant and became a ‘Bonus Mom’ to Michelle and Paul as well as beloved Grandma ‘H’ to the grand kids and great grand kids. Marilyn played on a women’s softball and volleyball league in the late 80’s with Amy, Michelle and friends and her stamina was impressive! What she lacked in height she made up for with grit, determination and character...even some attitude! Some may even call her STUBBORN!! It could be her Italian and Irish heritage shining through! She enjoyed going to mass and was even more grateful to be able to watch it on television with today’s technology, over the last year, with the COVID crisis. A huge thank you to Father Scott (Steve and Pat Woods-parents) Woods from St. Michael Parish of Gibsonburg, Ohio and St. Mary Parish of Millersville, Ohio, who visited Marilyn in the hospital before going into Hospice to pray over her and anoint the sick. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clifford “Red” and Louise (Anello) Brothers, brother Paul (Nancy)Brothers, cousin Paula Parker and her dear friend Pat Woods. Her surviving brother, Bob and sister-in-law Mary Beth Brothers were an integral part of her life and are heartbroken at another dear loss in the family. Also surviving is George Hennessy, (Marilyn’s ex-husband) and father of Amy and Todd. As cremation was Marilyn’s final wishes a funeral mass will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 420 Sandusky St., Toledo, OH 43611 on Friday, June 18th. Visitation begins at 9:30am and the funeral mass will commence at 11am. Marilyn had 2 charities that she consistently and generously gave to and sending donations in lieu of flowers to them in her honor would be amazing! One is Shriner’s hospital where her grandson Nick received Orthopaedic care for a childhood hip/leg condition and she just always had a heart for the facility. The other is St. Jude’s hospital, just because she loved kids! Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes and we appreciate your support!
