Maria Q. Almanza

Maria, 93, who lived from April 2, 1931, to October 2, 2024, was born in Kyle, Texas, to Guillermo and Carmen Trevino Quiroga. She peacefully passed away in Toledo, Ohio.

Maria was a devoted mother of four, grandmother of eight, and great-grandmother of 13. She was preceded in death by her cherished parents and several siblings.

Her family loved her deeply, and words fall short in expressing how profoundly she will be missed. She is survived by her best friend in life, Daniel Aranda; her daughters, Maria Vasquez, Delia Perales, Esther “Nini” Almanza; and her son, Javier James (Mary) Almanza; as well as her grandchildren, Angela Duran, Deanna Rose, John Duran, Lisa Eucker, Raquel Derian, Jessica Radkin, Joe Almanza, and Jake Almanza. Additionally, she leaves behind her great-grandchildren, LeAna Inman, John Oscar Duran, Celina Rose, Julian Rose, Joey Eucker, Ysa Duran, Jesse Rose, Nico Eucker, Amai Inman, Jace Radkin, Jemma Radkin, Henry Almanza, and Everett Almanza.

Maria will be fondly remembered for her joyful and generous nature, as well as her love for animals. She was an exceptional cook (the best tamale maker) and enjoyed gardening, playing euchre, visiting the casino, and spending time with family. Maria taught her loved ones that happiness can be found in life’s simple pleasures. She had friends from diverse backgrounds and was always ready to lend a helping hand to family and others. She instilled in her children the importance of assisting those in need.

Maria will be greatly missed by family and all who knew her.

There will not be a public memorial; the family prefers an intimate gathering to honor Maria’s life.
