Margaret M. Thornewell

Margaret Marie (Pierzchalski) Thornewell, 76, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away Monday, Nov. 6, 2023, after a very short battle with cancer.

Born June 24, 1947, in Wausau, Wis., she was a daughter of the late Sylvester and Joanna Pierzchalski.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Christopher David Thornewell, and many loved ones.

Survivors include her daughter, Michelle Bloomfield; grandchildren, Joshua Bloomfield, Jacob Bloomfield, Jessica Bastianelli, Christa Paull, Danielle Paull, Brandon Paull, Natalie Paull and Blake Paull; adopted daughter and son, Shelly Paull and Bob Paull; brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Dory Pierzchalski; and many wonderful great-grandchildren, niece, nephews, cousins and a multitude of loving friends.

She was a tireless advocate and mentor throughout her life, and found great pleasure and love in helping the homeless and all of whom she met through her jobs as a social worker and advocate through Jobs and Family Services.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no funeral services.

For those who knew her know that she championed many, many causes and charities. Among those include The Salvation Army, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Toledo Food Bank, USO (United Service Organizations), and Boys Town.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider any of the above or a charity of one’s choice.

Her daughter, Michelle, is so grateful for those who touched her life, as well as for the love and great care she received from her longtime doctors, Dr. Thomas McAlear and Dr. Lawrence M. Spetka, as well as the wonderful people at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, who only knew her for four short days but were so kind and caring. Thank you all.
