Lynda Stiger

Lynda Stiger, age 72, passed away Friday, September 29, 2023, in Oregon. She was born July 6, 1951, in Toledo, to the late Alex and Iris (Swanson) Vaido. Lynda was a lifelong resident of Toledo, graduating from Waite High School and obtaining her Associate degree in library science at the University of Toledo.

In 1971, she married the love of her life, Michael W. Stiger, Sr. and they were married for 50 years until his passing in March of 2022. Lynda devoted her life to her family, raising her two sons, Mike and Jim, until they left home after high school.

With more free time, she made the decision to follow another love of hers, being a librarian. She started her career at Locke Branch Library in the early 90’s and a handful of years later, worked for the Walbridge Library where she was a children's librarian.

Lynda continued to care for her family during these years, devoting time to her grandchildren was paramount! She would even bring her grandsons to the library if her schedule allowed. Another thing Lynda looked forward to every year was the family’s annual trip to the happiest place in the world, Walt Disney World! She and Mike would continue this tradition for over 40 years, creating the most magical memories with the people she loved the most. Another tradition she was known for was her Christmas cookies! The family knew come Christmastime to put their requests in. She baked with her heart and served, as always, with love.

Lynda was also a devout woman of faith. She was a longtime member of Main Street United Bretheren Church. There, she served as their Cherub Choir Director and taught Sunday school alongside her husband. As the years went by, she became a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist in Millbury, where she served for 10 years as their choir director. Lynda created bonds with many parishioners that developed into wonderful friendships that she cherished deeply.

Lynda is survived by her sons, James Stiger and Michael (Marie) Stiger II; grandsons, Jacob and Samuel Stiger, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael W. Stiger, Sr. and her sister, Anna Auler.

Visitation will be held at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1459 South Street, Millbury, Ohio 43447 on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, from 12:00 pm until the time of the memorial service at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church in Millbury.
