Lydia Jane Kiker

November 15, 1932 — January 20, 2013

Lydia Jane Kiker, age 80, passed away on January 20, 2013 at Ebeid Hospice, Sylvania. Lydia was born on November 15, 1932 in Eugene, OR. She proudly served in The United States Air Force and met her husband Cecil while stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany. Lydia turned her love of reading into an opportunity to teach others to read by volunteering at The Reading Center. She possessed a true servants heart and also volunteered at DeVeaux and Elmhurst School Libraries, the Crisis Help Center, and The Flower Hospital where she made stuffed animal frogs for patients. Lydia was a loving, caring mother of four who helped to raise many children, not only her own.She ALWAYS had a positive outlook on life and was an incredible influence to everyone she met. Even through her intense pain, her sense of humor was second to none, and she even joked with the doctors the day she was taken to Hospice. Her funny comments were meant to ease her familys pain, because she smiled when she said them, despite her own discomfort.Lydia was preceded in death by husband, Cecil and daughter, Geri Kiker. She is survived by her children, Russell Kiker, Stephen (Tammy) Kiker, and Jeffrey (Julie) Kiker and Son-in-Law, Tim Taylor. Grandchildren, Tony, Timothy, Jacob, Russell, Jay, Thomas, Megan, Janelle, Ryan, Ashley, and AllisonA Memorial Service for Lydia will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 from 12:00-3:00 PM at the Pathway Community Church, 2160 Eastbrook Dr. Toledo. A 12:00 noon prayer service will be followed by a time of fellowship and lunch for family and friends.Lydia always said not to send flowers after she passes, she would rather see them in life. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Pathway Community Church.Lydia touched so many lives in so many different ways. She lived by two simple, easy to follow rules; without laughter and love you are lost, and always be kind to others because thats what youre supposed to do!
