Lucy M. Caldwell, born December 12, 1935, was 84 years young as she finished her journey and received her heavenly promotion, August 16, 2020 with family and new friends from Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. Lucy was preceded in eternal sleep by the one true earthly love, her beloved James F. Caldwell, in 2016 after 54 years of marriage. Along with her husband, those meeting Lucy on her glorious journey home will be her mom and dad, Charles W. and Marcia M. Marihugh, her beautiful sister and nephew, Susanne and Michael Lapointe, a special nephew to them both, David Olic, her son-in-law, Joseph Marchlewski, many aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents, her father and mother-in-law, 3 sister-in-laws, 2 brother-laws and several nieces and nephews. Matthew 5:4 says: 4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Those left behind to be comforted are her brother, Charles W. (Lynelle) Marihugh, Cincinnati, OH, brother-in-law, Richard A. (Judy) MacLean, Springfield, OH, her children, James A. Caldwell, Oregon, OH, Cynthia M. Martinez, Genoa, OH, Kathryn L. Marchlewski, Port Clinton, OH and Melanie A. (James) Dunham, Havelock, NC. Her grandchildren, Amanda Martinez, Kalamazoo, MI, Ashley Martinez, Kalamazoo, MI, Jason Burleson, Indianapolis, IN, Samantha Parker, Genoa, OH, Mercedes (Thomas) Burdge, Genoa, OH, Jeremie Leclerc, Amherst, OH, Lydie Leclerc, Amherst, OH, Joshua Dunham, Havelock, NC, Jonathan (JJ) Dunham, Havelock, NC, Christopher (Melissa) Marchlewski, Toledo, OH and Jaysen Marchlewski, Colorado Springs, CO. Her co-caretaker Douglas Smith, Genoa, OH and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Also the jewels of her crown are her great-grandchildren, Tess, Jacob, Elijah, Harmony, Angel, Kaeleigh, Alexis, Vedah, Brenna, Thomas (TJ), Austin, Christopher, Tyler. Lucy grew up in Saginaw, MI and moved to Toledo to stay with her grandparents. This moved help facilitate a meeting with her life husband James at a Tall Toppers dance back in 1962. James and a mutual friend took her home that evening, six weeks later they married. Lucy considered it joyous to stay home and care for her children until we were old enough to stay by ourselves. Then, she went to work for Farmer’s Savings and Loan working her way up to Loan Management before retiring so James and Lucy could travel with their grandchildren during the summer and be snowbirds in the winter. She helped with their Genoa Girl’s Softball team and became the best scorekeeper in the league at the time. Lucy loved to go play Bingo at several places, East Broadway, Cardinal Stritch, Woodville Road and a place in Perrysburg. She was artistic in that she played the piano and sang a little, drew nature pictures and when she and James delved into wood working, she painted and drew all their projects. Lucy was a very strong woman. She battled and beat breast cancer around 2006 and she survived a heart attack that was in line with the widow-maker heart attack around 2015. Those in her family were made stronger through her example. Lucy also worked hard to encourage us all to follow her Lord, Jesus Christ, so we can all be assured that one day we will all meet up again. God bless and comfort her family and friends and soften our hearts to be able to accept Christ so her wish to have us all again tomorrow can be achieved. The family would like to have a gathering to celebrate Lucy’s life as soon as possible but due to the pandemic, a date has not been set yet. Lucy’s final wish was to go to the University of Toledo for an anatomical donation.
