Lora Rose Horner, 70, died Tuesday, July 14, 2026, in Monroe County, Michigan. She was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, on September 24, 1955, to Loury, Sr. & Neda Kay (Dawson) Horner. She was the oldest of four children.
She was raised in Parkersburg where she spent much time with her extended family. Lora worked for Nashua Photo for many years, then at Parkersburg Care Center. She later earned her CDL and drove truck for Tri-State, retiring in 2018. She loved to travel and enjoyed camping with her children.
Lora is survived by her three children, Michael Dawson Carpenter, of West Virginia, James Dale Carpenter, of Texas, and Evelyn Kay (James) Gregory, of Michigan. Also surviving are grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Hayleigh (Alex) Ball, Jaylynn McCoy, Camron Carpenter, Jay Carpenter (Teri), McKenzie Carpenter, Aamyrrah Rose Carpenter, Michael Anderson, Connor Lockhart, Sahara Irene Lockhart, Savannah Rose Lockhart, Neda Mae Jo Gregory, Laurel Rose (Andy) Seegert, Norman Gregory, Ellen (Mike) Rodeno and Steven (Alison) Gregory; as well as numerous great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, James Horner and Lee Horner, both of Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband James Wade Carpenter, her brother, Loury Horner Jr. (Junior), and her grandson, Cory Carpenter.
