Linda Carpino

Linda Marlene Carpino began life on November 3, 1946, in Clarksburg, W.V. to the late “Carpy” Americo F. and the late Constance (LeRoy) Carpino. They moved to Lorain, Ohio where Linda attended school and went on to Lorain Community College. She continued her education in Library Science at Miami University in Miami, Ohio and at Western Michigan University, achieving a master’s degree, and reaching her ultimate goal of becoming a Children’s Librarian. Linda worked a short while in the Toledo Public Library system and moved on to the Detroit Public Library system, retiring after 20 plus years. Linda is survived by her brother, Danny Carpino and nephew, Tim (Diana) Carpino and great-nephew Joshua. Linda is also survived by a large “chosen” family: Kathy and Don Merriman, Chris and Tiffany Gonzales, Trysten, Taylor, Corbyn – Steve and Marcy Gonzales, Caydence, Alex, Enzo – Katy and Tony Kerstetter – Heather Berger – Chelsea Berger – Melanie (Goddaughter) and Steve Marx, Mason, Braxton, Marlee. Best and dearest friends: Carol and Tim Burton, Shawn, Brenda, Erin, Colleen – Dee and Thom Eagle and family. And, with a multitude of others, too many to list by name, but they and we know who they are. Although Linda never gave birth to any children of her own, she helped raise and mentor and inspire the love of reading to 100’s and 100’s, maybe 1000’s of children. She will be dearly missed. Sadly, Linda passed away on December 20, 2021, at the Ebeid Hospice facility in Sylvania, Ohio. We appreciate the nurses and aides for the care and gentleness they bestowed upon Linda and us. A funeral service was held at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Lambertville, Michigan, Pastor Tim Loewe presiding, on December 23. The ladies at the church were so gracious and kind. We greatly appreciate all the work they did. We thank all the family and friends who attended the service or sent flowers or condolences or contributed food dishes or called with comforting words.
