Leon C. McGee

Leon Charles "Chuck" McGee Sr, 80, of Toledo, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026 surrounded by family. Born on May 5, 1945 in Toledo, Ohio, Leon was the son of Leon and Sola (Blanton) McGee. He graduated from Woodard High School, where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Carol. Leon was an excellent athlete in both football and basketball.

After school, Leon built a successful career in sales, where the gift of conversation and genuine interest in people made him well known across the city. It seemed everywhere he went, someone knew him. Above all Leon was devoted to his family. He was a fierce protector of his children. Leon will be remembered for his toughness, his loyalty and the countless lives he touched simply by being himself. Being a dad, grandpa and great-grandpa were among his greatest joys.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Sola, seven of his sisters and his longtime companion, Carol (Western) Croniser. He is survived by his children, Leon McGee Jr, Lisa (Ron) Ferguson and Eric McGee; grandchildren, Brittany (Kevin) Byers, Chloe (Sean) Hurley, Olivia Ferguson and Austin McGee; great-grandchildren, Kinsley, Emersyn and Jace; and sister, Sandy Mullins.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. DeVries, the ICU staff at ProMedica Toledo Hospital and the compassionate nurses at Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their exceptional care and support.
