Leo Sancrant

January 9, 1964 — January 21, 2026

Toledo

Leo Sancrant, 62, took his last breath on January 21, 2026. Born on January 9, 1964, in Toledo, Ohio, Leo lived a life that was loud in love, rich in music, and deeply felt by those who truly knew him.

Leo was a fixture in Toledo’s local music scene for decades. A devoted bass player, he shared his talent with many musicians and bands over the years, but was especially known for his time with Lucas Band, Devious, and his final band, New Moon. Watching Leo play was an experience—eyes closed, fully immersed, feeling every note in his bones. He played with a natural, unfiltered joy, often acting silly, always authentic. On stage, Leo was unapologetically himself. If you were there, you understood. If you didn’t, you missed something special.

Music was not just something Leo did—it was how he communicated, how he processed the world, how he connected. Though he didn’t always wear his heart on his sleeve, it was enormous and ever-present. His love showed up in quieter, steadier ways: in loyalty, standing his ground for what mattered to him.

In his later years, Leo found comfort and happiness in a life built around simple, meaningful joys. He adored his three cats, caring for them deeply and often joking that they were better than people. He spent most evenings with the love of his life, Lori, his partner of nearly 15 years, sharing meals, watching movies, and enjoying football and baseball side by side.

Those closest to Leo will remember him for his feistiness balanced by genuine care. For his teeth-gritting determination, his passion, his stubbornness, and his unwavering sense of self. He was someone who stood his ground, loved fiercely in his own way, and left a lasting impression that cannot be replicated.

Leo is survived by his children, Anna, Leah, Christina, Leo, and Cathrine, each of whom carries a piece of him forward; and many grandchildren. He is also survived by his beloved partner, Lori; his sisters, Marcia and Rita; and his brother, Terry. He was preceded in death by his son, Lucas Sancrant, whose memory remained close to Leo’s heart; his brother, David Sancrant; his sister, Cathy Dario; and his parents Leo and Anna Sancrant whom he's walking with now.

A celebration of life honoring Leo’s memory will be held on February 15, 2026, at 2:00 pm, at Sneakey Pete’s on N. Detroit Avenue in Toledo, a fitting place to gather, share stories, and remember a man whose life was filled with music, passion, and unmistakable presence.

My dad will be missed deeply, remembered often, and carried forward in every bass line, every shared laugh, and every moment where someone dares to be fully themselves.

Thank you to the Cremation Society of Toledo for their service and geniune care.
