Lennard D. Barney

Lennard DeFord Barney, age 76 years old, peacefully passed away from this life and entered into eternal life with God, surrounded by his family, on July 9, 2024, in his home. Lennard was a man of faith. He was a member and attended St. Patrick’s of Heatherdown Church, in Toledo. It was there that he gained many strong relationships with other members, so much so, that he referred to them as his “church family”. In his spare time, Lennard enjoyed camping, motorcycles, skating, attending bluegrass festivals, cooking on the grill, and playing farkle with his church family.

Lennard DeFord Barney was born on February 22, 1948, in Williamsburg, Pennsylvania, the son of George and Bertha Mae (Eckman) Barney. Both parents preceded him in death.

Left to cherish his memory, include his loving wife of over 52 years, Rose (Hayak) Barney; two children, Constance (Steve) Coughlin, and Timothy (Kristie) Barney; sister, Linda Folk; brother, Ralph Barney; 5 grandchildren, Jessica, Raymond, Brittney, Cody, and Kaitlyn; 6 great-grandchildren, Jayce, Hayden, Jakobe, Amelia, Zayn, Bayker, with one more great-grandchild on the way, in October; niece, Sarah (Zac) Hollingsworth; and best friend, since 8 years old, Bruce Cole.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 26, at 10:00 am, at St. Patrick’s of Heatherdowns Catholic Church, 4201 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, OH 43614, with a luncheon to follow at the Holy Family Building.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Ohio Living Hospice, especially to Nicole, RN, for their excellent care and compassion given to Lennard at his dear time of need.
