Larry Hays

Larry Robert Hays, born May 9, 1948, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018. He is survived by his daughter, Robin (Don) Hahn; grandchildren, Aiden, Jax, Gabriella, and Grant; sisters, Jan (Ross) Webb, Sharon (Ray) Dunn, and Laurie Hays; brother, Steve (Uson) Hays; and many nephews and nieces. Larry was a 1966 Whitmer High School graduate who made many friends while in the marching band, pep band, and musicals. As a Vietnam Era veteran, Larry served in the U.S. Army from 1967-1970. He was well known as a professional drummer in the Toledo area, performing with The Villagers, The Music School, Tom & Martha Trio, Bruce Ewen Trio, Bobby Edwards Orchestra, and many others. As a day job Larry worked as a legal secretary part time. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, and was a history buff. He was passionate about building and creating model train layouts, and he also liked backpacking in Colorado and the Hocking Hills area. Spending time with family and friends was always something Larry enjoyed. Services will be private. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Those that have touched our lives will live in our memories forever.
